Attendance is Worth Celebrating at Taos Middle School

Taos, NM – Attendance is arguably the most critical key to the success of students everywhere. At Taos Middle School, 128 students were celebrated for achieving their goal of 20 days perfect attendance at the start of the school year. The school uses Talent Development Secondary’s (TDS) Early Warning System to help get and keep students on-track to promotion and graduation.

Taos Middle School’s Attendance Challenge was implemented by staff Attendance Success Coaches, whose primary role is to work with students, families, staff, and community partners, to provide strategic support critical to overcome attendance barriers. As a “best practice” of the Early Warning System, TDS highlights attendance challenges as part of its work with school staff and administration to develop and implement whole-school, targeted, and intensive interventions that help build the culture and environment that prevent students from falling off-track and help students get back on track for future success.

“Cris is a shining star in implementing an early Warning System at his school,” says Donette Hall, TDS senior facilitator, of Cris Roaque, Taos Middle School facilitator. “Through training and support from Talent Development Secondary, he embraces the principles of Early Warning Systems and utilizes best practices to ensure student success.”

Congratulations, Taos Middle School!
